Products

Products include use of the following sustainable resources:

Organic Cotton and Organic Cotton Denim

Organic cotton is much more environmentally friendly than the traditional variety as it uses no pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides during the growing cycle. There are many growers of this crop, and the number is steadily increasing. Usually manufacturers using this plant to make textiles, follow up the process by using natural dyes to further reduce the amount of chemicals dumped into our ecosystem.

Wool

Produced by caring farmers sheep can be a wonderful resource for quality wool. Factory-farmed sheep (as with any factory-farmed animals) tend to live miserable lives where the handlers are concerned with productivity and speed. Then there is the matter of bleaching the wool to get it white, or dyeing it, but with a responsible eco-friendly manufacturers most of these issues can be overcome. We use eco-friendly wool manufacturers.

Bamboo

BambooBamboo fiber is the new innovation in textiles. Bamboo fiber is softer than the softest cotton, has a natural sheen to the surface and feels similar to silk or cashmere. But, it has a very high soil release value and is so durable; you can throw it in the washer and drier.
Bamboo fiber is more breathable, comfortable and thermal regulating than cotton, wool or any other synthetic fiber thereby keeping you cooler, drier and more comfortable all day. Bamboo fiber's unique cross section composed of a matrix with various microscopic gaps allows bamboo apparels to absorb and evaporate perspiration faster than any other fabric.
Unlike other antimicrobial fabrics, which require a chemical treatment (and are often irritating and hyper allergenic to the skin), bamboo fiber fabric and yarn are naturally bacteriostatic and require no harmful chemicals. Bamboo apparel is hypoallergenic. Bamboo’s organic and natural fiber properties make it non-irritating to the skin making it a pleasant alternative for anyone with skin sensitivities or other allergies and dermatitis. Bamboo apparel also protects you from UV rays, naturally.
Our Bamboo apparel is good for our ecosystems because Bamboo does not require pesticides, insecticides, or fertilizers, and does not involve the use of genetically modified organisms.
Further, Bamboo fibers are biodegradable, unlike synthetic textile fibers.

Hemp

Hemp FashionBy far, the crop with the most potential for eco-friendly textile use is hemp. The ecological footprint of hemp is considerably smaller than that of most other plants considered for their fibres. Hemp plants grow very quickly and densely which makes it difficult for weeds to take hold, eliminating the need for herbicides and artificial fertilizers. It requires no irrigation as it thrives on the amount of water in the average rainfall, and it is highly pest-resistant.
Hemp has naturally long fibres which makes it suitable for spinning with a minimum of processing. Those fibres are also long-lasting. In fact, historically hemp has been used for making naval ropes that were used in and around water because they resist rot. If it held up to those conditions, imagine how well it will wear as a pair of jeans, or a shirt.
Hemp fabrics come in a variety of weights and textures. You can purchase fabric or clothing, woven or knit; buy yarn, rope, belts and a wide range of products made of this versatile plant.

Soya Silk

Soy silk is made from the by-products of the tofu-making process. The liquefied proteins are extruded into fibres which are then spun, and processed like any other fibre. You can purchase skeins of soy silk yarn and test it out for yourself. The high protein content makes it receptive to natural dyes, so you can create your own colours.

Coconut

CoconutThere is an increased demand in coconut fabrics or fabrics made from the husks of coconuts. This is a sustainable fiber that has strength and durability as well as the anti-bacterial properties that reduce odors.

Corn

Ingeo is created by extracting the starch, then sugars from corn and processing them to make a fiber, which can be spun into a yarn or woven into fabric. Corn fiber is both durable and highly sustainable.

Sea Cell

Sea Cell is a fiber made from kelp with unique properties. Sea Cell improves circulation, heals skin tissue and has many other healing properties. This fiber is hugely in demand in the Spa Industry.

Recycled PET polyester is made from water bottles and is sustainable in that no new fossil fuels are used to make polyester. This textile is used over a wide range of textiles and garments from performance to fashion. Recyclable polyester is uniquely made from water bottles but garments made from these fibers are recyclable and through a process known as the ECO-CIRCLE can be recycled from textiles to new textiles or products.
